The Pander House

If you have stumbled here randomly or if you are one of my three friends who still reads this, I would like to recommend a podcast. Anyone who knows me knows that I love bad movies. Hello, 'The Abominable Dr. Phibes' is one of my favorite movies of all time.

But what about movies that come out now? Well, yeah, most of them are crap. And none of them can capture the delight you feel when you see Vincent Price conducting a clockwork symphony, or putting on his Vincent Price mask or killing a lady with brussel sprouts and locusts. But I digress.

The Mask Wears The Man?

For a hilarious spin on the crap films of today, I can't recommend The Flop House highly enough. Though honestly, every episode contains minimal talk about movies. A lot of it is the guys digressing into discussions about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Underwater Sex (anyone tried it?), The best way to kill Scrooge McDuck (drown him in his pool of money) and what would happen if Penny from Inspector Gadget met a Dinosaur. Start from the beginning and work your way up, because there are occasionally callbacks to previous episodes, not to mention some very undefined contests with no discernible prizes and a saga of a patchy, peg-legged cat.

Hey! Just came to have a look at your site after your post on the 'Flop House' facebook page.

I'll try to give a go to 'Dr. Phibes' some time soon - you made a compelling argument, brussel sprouts and all.

I also saw that one your last entries (back in may 2010!) mentioned a few classic actresses that all had a certain je-ne-sais-quoi to them. I must admit I always was fascinated by Ella Raines. Try to have a look at 'Phantom Lady' if you can find it - one of the best good bad movies ever made, in my opinion!

Keep it up, dear!

Thanks for clicking through as they say. As for the time gap, I'm really bad (you might say 'abominable') when it comes to updating but I'm really really gonna try this time.

And Dr. Phibes goes so much deeper than that. There's a mummified wife, an assistant named Vulnavia, a death by unicorn AND by frog mask AND by rats hidden in a cockpit. Also, what was porn like in the 1020's? Watch and find out!

Killing someone with Brussel sprouts and locusts ... now that's ... creative! :D

Welcome back, Bee! Missed you! :)
